I hope you are all well and enjoying this early spring weather! I am embarking on a new project of the theatre kind, and want to tell you about it as well as give an update on my existing projects and the events tied to some of them.
Maternal – We are still in the festival run and will be having a screening event for our supporters in the next few months.
You Called – You can now watch our 7 minute little film here:
PARKED – We just started streaming PARKED on Robert Pralgo’s YouTube channel so you can watch it anytime. We will be having a free Zoom showing with a live Q&A following in the next few weeks. The Zoom event will be livestreamed on the YouTube channel as well. For details and invite info go here: (the “community” page on the link below)
Things I know to Be True - a play by Andrew Bovell, is my newest project. I am very excited to be co-producing and leading as “Fran” in this beautiful piece of theatre. I have come on board as Yard Dogs Ensemble’s Associate Artistic Director. Yard Dogs is The Robert Mello Studio’s theatre ensemble. We will have eleven performances Fri, Sat, Sun starting June 23rd. I hope you’ll come out and support Atlanta independent theatre and me. :)
We are also having a fundraiser for our production! Three nights of a funny and moving improvisational show! You don’t want to miss this original format, devised and directed by Robert Mello of The Robert Mello Studio.

LOOK! A Thousand Word Pictures’ website is “new” and improved! I have added pages for our films; MATERNAL & YOU CALLED! Our trailer for MATERNAL is now posted and I am excited to announce YOU CALLED can now be viewed on its’ page! Check out what’s new including:
MATERNAL We have a film! A GOOD one. I am so proud of this short film written and directed by the award winning Vandon Gibbs, with such a talented acting ensemble, that our stellar team has produced! We are entering the festival circuit now and already have some traction! Please stay tuned for premiere and festival screenings to come.
PARKED also had a recent selection and will be screened in the Atlanta area Indie Showcase, RoleCall. Please stay tuned for that one and future festival selections and screenings as well. PARKED is a semi-finalist in the Atlanta Movie Awards and we will know the results of that contest soon!
YOU CALLED is now available to watch! I hope you’ll take a look at our micro-budget short produced during Covid as a “test” for working under the SAG/Aftra and the producers’ union protocol. It really helped me understand what I needed to do for Maternal on much larger and longer shoot! Feedback is welcome!
I am feeling the momentum and gratitude of taking this little “upstart production company” this far! It has been because of and with the incredible talent, experience and friendship of the Writers, Directors, Producers, Actors and Crew that have come alongside of A Thousand Word Pictures to make it happen!
I hope you’ll stay on this journey with me to see what’s next!
We are heading into the fourth quarter of 2021 and things are moving forward on all fronts! YOU CALLED continues to be recognized; I received a “Leading Actress” and a “Women Filmmakers” award of merit in the Accolade Global Film Competition and PARKED received “BESTSHORT” in the Global Monthly Online Competition! I am so grateful to be growing as an actress and filmmaker within the Atlanta community of artists.
MATERNAL is “in the can” and officially in post-production! What a wonderful challenge it has been for me as an Executive Producer and Lead Actor. I am so proud of what we accomplished as a production team and ensemble of actors! I can’t wait to screen it at our premiere sometime in January 2022 ! Stay tuned and a big THANKS for taking the time to keep up with A Thousand Word Pictures! Love and Peace, L.A.
We are grateful to move into the pre-production phase for our short film MATERNAL. After a successful Indiegogo campaign, we will use the next 10-12 weeks to; find a location, get the SAG/Aftra paperwork cleared, begin to work with a stunt co-ordinator and pyro/firearms specialist, assemble the rest of the crew, and so on!
We will shoot in late August! We have a great cast ;) and production team, so although this is going to be a lot of work, it’s going to be fun!
